Montreal’s best hotel pools offer great views, quiet luxury, and a fabulous place to warm up in winter.
Estimated reading time: 21 minutes
If you’ve ever been disappointed by a tiny hotel pool in a basement with lots of chlorine and zero vibes, I sympathize. I’m a Toronto journalist who travels the world reviewing public bathing experiences and wrote this list of the Montreal’s best hotel pools for anyone looking for a well-designed, attractive place for your morning dip, afternoon lounge, or swimming workouts. I’ve visited many of these on my regular trips to the city and find Montreal hotel pools are especially welcome sanctuaries during the cold winter months—but a cool rooftop pool is fun in summer, too. Most of these are open year-round and many have excellent views of the city.
This post covers Montreal hotels with rooftop pools, outdoor pools, saltwater pools, and pools attached to luxury spas.
You might notice that none of these are located inside of old Montreal—where historic buildings do not generally allow for this feature. But I’ll get you as close as I can!

Best Montreal Rooftop Pools

The holy grail of hotel pools is the rooftop with views. Montreal has several beauties, both indoor and outdoor. These are excellent for a girls’ weekend getaway or solo luxury.
Hyatt Centric Montreal
- Boutique Hotel
- Panoramic Views
- Outdoor Heated Pool
A truly classic rooftop pool on the seventh floor of this new Hyatt walking distance from Old Montreal has outstanding views of both the Port and St. Laurence River and the city. The heated pool’s sleek design is made for laps, and if you don’t want to get wet there are many lounge chairs and a separate area perfect for drinks at sunset. Most exciting is that this outdoor rooftop pool is open year-round (weather permitting, so check when booking).
Honeyrose Hotel Montreal
- Art Deco Design Hotel
- Heart of the Entertainment District
- Adults-Only Indoor Pool
In the heart of the entertainment district, this chic Art Deco-inspired hotel (part of the Marriott group) has a gorgeous indoor pool on the 15th floor with sweeping city views. There is also a hot tub and a sauna. Open early at 6am until 11pm at night and pool access is restricted to guests 18-years-old and older—perfect for a romantic late-night dip before bed.

Humaniti Hotel Montreal
- Autograph Collection Hotel
- Heated Outdoor Pool Year-Round
- Spa on Site
Another heated outdoor pool that’s open all year round and perfect in winter, this rooftop gem is on the ninth floor with great views of the Montreal skyline. Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the stylish hotel is located steps from the Convention Centre and is pet friendly. Pool area also has a sauna and is open from 10am to 9pm, with the full-service Spa Humaniti also on site.

Hotel Le Cantlie Suites
- Affordable Apt-Hotel
- Mid-Century Modern Design
- Large Sundeck
In summer months, head up to the 28th floor and find 7,000-square-foot wooden sundeck with heated rooftop pool and fantastic views. (I believe this is the highest pool in Montreal.) A top choice for staying in Montreal’s “Golden Mile” area near McGill, the Musee des Beaux Art and shopping, this independent, family-run hotel features 250 suites with kitchens and a nod to the building’s mid-century modern history. Surrounded by some of Montreal’s most expensive hotels, this is surprisingly affordable luxury. Pool open 8am to 8pm from June to mid-October.

Hotel Bonaventure Montreal
- Super Central Location
- Unique Indoor-Outdoor Pool
- Pretty Garden Decor
This one is different: a heated outdoor pool with an indoor section so you don’t have to get out in the freezing cold, you just swim on over to the inside. In summer, trees and plants make it feel more like a garden than most hotel rooftops. There’s also a hot tub and sauna, and the hotel is kid-friendly. Located near the train station and major attractions like the Bell Centre. Pool hours are 7am to 10pm year-round.
Best Indoor Pools at Montreal Hotels

Some of Montreal’s best hotel pools are inside, offering more sophisticated, quiet spaces. These are great if you like to swim early in the morning to kick off your day, or after dinner before bed.
Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth
- Historic 5-Star Hotel
- Exceptional Spa on site
- Adult-Only Pool Hours
Any Fairmont hotel is a popular Bucket List stay for Canadians. One of Montreal’s largest and most historic hotels, this Fairmont offers classic luxury in its 950 rooms, restaurants and bars—and the indoor pool is no exception. A minimal, sophisticated design features Scandinavian wooden ceiling and comfortable lounge chairs. A hot tub and sauna are available. Also on site, the Moment Spa offers all the scrubs and facials and massages you may want to add on. Pool hours 6am to 10pm — adults only after 8pm.

Hotel AC Montreal Centre-ville
- Modern 4-Star Hotel
- Indoor Pool with Amazing Views
- Convenient Central Location
This is one of my personal favourite Montreal hotels, for its convenient downtown location walking distance to Old Montreal and youthful modern energy, while still being accessible and affordable. The good sized (21-metre) indoor pool is also a highlight. I love the panoramic views and attractive blue tiles, the decent-sized hot tub and small sauna. Pool hours are generous, from 7am to 11pm.

Le Westin Montreal
- Old Montreal Location
- Unique Pool Design
- Cold Plunge Pool
OK this is cool: the indoor pool here has three distinct sections: a hot tub for relaxing, a cold pool for contrast therapy, and a lap pool…. with a glass bottom part that looks down over the hotel entranceway. Combined with its location right on the edge of Old Montreal, this Westin has more to recommend than most hotels of this large size. Pool opens at 7am, to 9pm during the week and to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Saltwater Pools at Montreal Hotels

As someone who loves to float on my back…saltwater pools are a treat. They also boast less chemical additives to traditional chlorine pools.
The Ritz-Carlton
- Luxury Five-Star Hotel
- Sweeping City Views
- Superior Spa on Site
Enjoy ultimate relaxation with rooftop views and the benefits of saltwater swimming at the Ritz-Carlton. The famous luxury hotel’s heated indoor pool is serene and looks out over the city through floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside, there’s also a landscaped sundeck with hot tub, sauna, and spaces for lounging or snacking. Their Spa St. James has all the pampering treatments you’d expect, with waterfalls and fireplaces to complete the urban resort feel. Pool hours are 6:30am to 10:30pm.

Warwick Le Crystal
- Boutique Hotel
- Skyline Views from Pool
- Across from the Bell Centre
On the 12th floor of this stylish apt-hotel is a large saltwater indoor pool with impressive views of the city skyline and a hot tub and sauna out on the terrace. The Warwick is the closet hotel to the Bell Centre so a very convenient spot if you’re coming to town for a concert. Pool hours 7am to 10pm.
Montreal Budget Hotels with Pools

If you don’t have the budget for some of those hotel splurges above, there are quite a few downtown hotels at more affordable rates (under $200 CDN per night, for example) with decent pools. These are my picks for Montreal’s best hotel pools for travellers seeking to save on their accommodations.
Holiday Inn Montréal Centre-Ville
- Good Value Hotel near Old Montreal
- Saltwater Indoor Pool
- Very Early Pool Hours
It looks like a standard Holiday Inn indoor pool…but it’s saltwater and it opens at 5am and stays open until 11pm. If you’re a super early morning swimmer, this is your spot. Located on the 15th floor, there’s also a sauna and hot tub.

L’Appartment Hotel
- Budget Hotel with Free Breakfast
- Heated Indoor Pool
- Rooftop Terrace
The indoor pool here is pretty standard but the rooftop terrace offers great views over Montreal for this price point. Located near McGill University, the hotel has suites with kitchens but also free complimentary breakfast if you don’t feel like using it.
Le Nouvel Hotel
- Affordable Design Hotel
- West Montreal Location
- Seasonal Outdoor Pool
I dig this hotel’s design-forward common areas and suites and the fact that its small outdoor pool is not on the roof but in a garden, kind of motel-style. Le Nouvel is located in West Montreal (not quite as downtown) but it’s a low-key affordable option. Seasonal pool from June to August only.
Hampton Inn by Hilton Montreal Downtown
- Modern Budget Hotel
- Seasonal Outdoor Pool
- Complimentary Breakfast
OK, so the outdoor pool is an above-ground affair that reminds me of a suburban backyard and the terrace seems AstroTurfed But I’m a fan of Hampton Inns for the smart modern room design and complimentary hot breakfast buffet. If I was looking for a Montreal hotel on a budget in the summer time, I would seriously consider it. Seasonal pool open mid-May to October 1.
Bonus: Montreal Airport Hotel with Waterslide

Armon Plaza Montreal Airport
- Superior Four-Star Hotel
- Airport Location
- Kids Pool and Waterslide
I went looking for kid-friendly hotel pools in Montreal and could only find this one near the airport. But it has a waterslide and very good reviews so may be worth checking out. There’s one “regular” indoor pool and one children’s pool. Pool hours 9am to 9pm.
