Best Quebec City Hotel Pools: Your Ultimate Guide

Great Quebec City hotel pools bring summer vibes all year round

Estimated reading time: 21 minutes

I know that Quebec City has longer and colder winters than much of Canada. But until I started booking hotels there I didn’t realize how that affects the Quebec City hotel pools situation. There are not many outdoor or rooftop pools, but instead you get tropical indoor gardens and courtyard pool atriums that go out of their way to make you feel like you’re at the beach (which must be welcome in minus 20 below). So while that means it’s not a pool party city, the good news is that they are open year-round, and a few have genuinely beautiful views.

I’m a Toronto journalist who travels the world reviewing public bathing experiences and created this list of the best Quebec City hotel pools for other travellers who use the “has pool” filter on all your hotel searches. Because, let’s face it, not all hotel pools are created equally. (Looking at you, tiny pool in a basement with lots of chlorine and zero vibes.)

This post covers Quebec City hotels with rooftop pools, year-round heated pools, saltwater pools, kid-friendly pools with waterslides, and pools for travellers on a budget. I’ve focused on hotels located in the Old City, City Centre or close to major attractions, with a few airport hotels as well. Where possible, I’ve listed the pool hours.

Outdoor pool with sun loungers in summer
Hilton Quebec

Quebec City hotel pools are short on rooftop views for the climate reasons mentioned above but here are a couple of great options that show off the city skyline.

  • Outdoor Rooftop Pool
  • City Views
  • Heated Year-Round

The Hilton Québec’s heated outdoor pool sits on a large terrace with great views over the city — one of the few true rooftop pool experiences you’ll find in Québec City. The pool itself is shallow, so good for kids. In the summer there are sun loungers and a cute little poolside bar. In winter, it’s hot-cold wonderland. Conveniently connected to the convention centre and right beside the I Love Quebec City sign, with a hop-on-hop-off bus stop out front .

🕐 Pool hours: Mon–Sat 8am–8pm | Sun 8am–7pm | Year-round

➡️ Check availability at Hilton Québec

  • Iconic Historic Hotel
  • Indoor Pool with Summer Terrace
  • Luxury Spa on-site

The Grand Dame of Quebec City Hotels has a beautifully designed aquatic centre, with an indoor pool, children’s pool, and hot tub. Huge walls of glass look out over the city year-round but in the summer you also get an outdoor terrace with cabanas, a cocktail bar and panoramic views over the rooftops of Old Québec.

🕐 Pool hours: Aquatic Centre: daily 7am–9pm | Fitness Centre: 24h | Indoor pool year-round; outdoor terrace seasonal

Hot Tub surrounded by trees and large glass windows
Hotel le Concorde overlooks a park
  • Panoramic Views
  • Indoor Pool and Hot Tub
  • Tropical Vibes

Situated between the busy Grand Allee, with its many bars and restaurants, and the Joan of Arc garden park overlooking the river, here you’re in the city, but also don’t feel like it. Recently renovated, the indoor pool area is filled with (fake) greenery, rocks and little waterfalls to make it a wee bit tropical. Views of the Plains of Abraham from the pool area are also lovely.

🕐 Pool hours: 8am–10pm daily

Le Capitole

Best Boutique Hotel Pools

Some of Quebec City’s most modern and design-forward hotels have excellent indoor pools that offer more privacy and longer hours. These are great if you like to swim early in the morning to kick off your day.

Le Capitole Hôtel

  • 9th floor Heated Pool
  • Laurentian Mountain Views
  • Spa On Site

Le Capitole is a beautiful, upscale hotel complex right on the edge of Old Québec and the heated pool on the 9th floor delivers some impressive views of the Laurentians. This is a small pool for relaxing, not swimming. Think of it more like a really big hot tub. The hotel opeped in 2019 and the overall feel at this hotel is modern and spa-forward. Some rooms have soaker tubs that look right out over the city. A great choice for a memorable couples weekend, girlfriend getaway, or solo self-care. Hotel is attached to a gorgeous theatre for concerts, comedy and more reasons to stay in.

  • 4-star Hotel
  • Near Trendy Shopping
  • Pool Opens Early

Near the trendy St. Roche neighbourhood, boutique Hotel Pur has a good-sized indoor pool with dark-coloured loungers. The 6am opening time makes it a good pick for morning swimmers. Nothing flashy, but well-run and well-located and, you know, actually meant for swimming.

🕐 Pool hours: 6am–10pm daily

➡️ Check availability at Hotel Pur

  • Saint-Roch Neighbourhood
  • Recently Renovated
  • Murals and a Painted Ceiling

Le Saint-Édouard is a fully renovated boutique property in the vibrant Saint-Roch neighbourhood. The indoor pool features distinctive murals with mountain scenes and a painted ceiling — a nice change from the typical minimalist hotel pool aesthetic. Member of the World Hotels Distinctive collection.

🕐 Pool hours: 7am–10pm daily

Saltwater Hotel Pools in Quebec City

  • Saltwater Indoor Pool
  • Rooftop Hot Tub
  • 3-Star Value

For saltwater fans, I found only one Quebec City Hotel pool for you. I’ve stayed at this hotel, a solid 3-star option walking distance of Old Quebec, lots of great bars and restaurants, museums and more. Our room overlooked the Place George-V park. The pool is small, but deep and of course, full of salt! There are also two Finnish saunas inside (gendered) and a small hot tub outside. Worth noting: the pool is visible from a busy hallway — a quirk that might matter to some.

Indoor pool surrounded by hotel balconies and trees
Hotel Palace Royal
  • Tropical Courtyard Pool
  • Hot Tub
  • Extended Summer Hours

There’s something kind of Palm Springs about this hotel to me. Maybe it’s the fake palm trees surrounding the pool, or the retro tiling, or the fact that rooms have balconies overlooking the whole thing, but there’s a real summer vibe here. The kidney-shaped pool and small hot tub are located in the hotel’s central courtyard on the second floor which might explain the bizarre hours – evenings only during the week, unless it’s summer. If swimming in the day time is essential to your stay I would check with them in advance. My senior-aged mom stayed here with friends and they loved the comfortable, friendly environment.

🕐 Pool hours: Sun–Thu 6pm–10pm | Fri 5pm–10pm | Sat 9am–10pm but in summer it’s daily 9am–10pm

➡️ Check availability at Hôtel Palace Royal

  • Heated Indoor Pool
  • Year-Round
  • Unusual Hours

OK here’s another with strange hours. The Delta’s heated indoor pool is a reliable year-round option, but — on weekdays it doesn’t open until 5pm. The pool itself is on the smaller side, too. But hey, if you’re looking for a Quebec City hotel pool on the weekends, this will work for you.

🕐 Pool hours: Mon–Fri 5pm–9pm | Sat 9am–9pm | Sun 9am–1pm & 5pm–9pm

➡️ Check availability at Delta Hotels by Marriott Québec

Best Quebec City Hotel Pools for Kids

When you have little ones with energy to burn….and don’t mind staying out near the airport instead of Old Quebec.

  • Tropical Indoor Garden
  • Actual fish pond
  • Near Jean-Lesage Airport

Hôtel Québec Inn is convenient to Jean-Lesage International Airport — but the indoor tropical garden with a river, waterfall, palm trees, and actual fish pond makes it feel like you’ve arrived somewhere far more exotic. The pool and a hot tub sit right in the garden atrium, surrounded by greenery. Not far from Aquarium du Québec and shopping.

🕐 Pool hours: Pool: Mon–Thu 8am–9pm | Fri–Sat 8am–10pm | Sun 8am–9pm Summer (Jun 28–Sep 7): daily 8am–10pm

➡️ Check availability at Hôtel Québec Inn

  • Water Slide
  • Budget-Priced
  • Hot Tub

For families on a budget who don’t mind staying near the airport, this Super 8 offers a giant water slide for the kids and hot tub for the adults. Breakfast included.
